About the Studio

What We Do

Luke Black Ltd is an independant specialist finishing studio producing bespoke surfaces for furniture, interiors, and commissioned artworks.
Working from our studio in rural Shropshire, we combine material refinement with creative control — developing original finishes defined by texture, restraint, and precision.
We collaborate with designers, architects, and private clients who value thoughtful, distinctive work and expect exceptional results

"Surface is the first thing people see. Our job is to make it unforgettable" - Luke Black

History

Luke Black Ltd was founded in 2011 by Luke Black after training under a respected furniture finisher and designer.
What began with high-end restoration and surface repair evolved quickly into a studio focused on creating original, bespoke finishes for private clients and high-spec design projects.
Today, the studio works across furniture, interiors, yachts, and commissioned artworks — always bringing clarity, material authority, and a high level of control to the process

Our Team

Luke Black leads all creative and technical work in the studio. Every finish, artwork, and surface is developed under his direction — ensuring clarity, authorship, and uncompromising standards.

Elizabeth Black oversees operations, pricing, and scheduling — acting as the studio’s main point of contact and maintaining strong relationships with clients and collaborators.

The studio is intentionally small, allowing full creative control from concept to completion, and ensuring every piece reflects the values and precision Luke Black Ltd is known for.

The finish of an object is the first thing that people perceive, so I appreciate the importance and impact that a beautiful surface can make." - Luke Black
